Dating Photography Pro-tip #1: Wide angle lenses make self(s?)-portraits infinitely easier. They also allow you to capture some of the setting behind you (see below for what not to do, even with the right lens). That way when you subject your friends to your photo album, they won’t claw their eyes out after the 20th identical photo.

Dating Photography Pro-tip #2: If someone else is taking your photo, be gracious and say “Please” and “Thank you”. It’s ok to give some basic directions if you want non-centered framing, but be generous when you see the results (that’s what cropping is for!). And make sure to set up your shots before asking someone to take it.

Dating Photography Pro-tip #3: If you’re not naturally photogenic, having a significant other who causes you to smile can do wonders.

…new twitter feed!

Due to popular demand (ok…so…like 4 people…), I’ve decided to start a twitter feed to replace the “What I’ve been reading” entries, since they a) are impossible for a person to read in a reasonable amount of time, b) most of the articles are old news by the time they are posted, and c) they take forever to create. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to pull out long excerpts or charts/graphics, but hopefully this’ll free me up to actually write some real posts instead of just linking to everyone else’s articles. Don’t fear though, I’ll still try to post a biweekly Top 10 reading list. You can follow via twitter or just check it out in the sidebar.

Follow me follow other people at twitter.com/chhsiung

Merry Christmas!

p.s. The twitter feed has been up for the past few days, so make sure to check out all the links!

Hi everyone,

I’m back! My apologies for the extremely lengthy radio silence. Life has been quite busy and the task of updating html by hand proved enough of a hassle for me to drop the website. Hopefully switching over to wordpress will lower the activation energy enough for me to post on a more consistent basis. Please bear with the spartan furnishings for now. Shininess will be added once this blog gets a little more definition. For now, it’s just good to be back.
